We have been able to communicate between multiple Silverlight control instances for some time, but we were forced to do so using script in the browser. Silverlight 3 introduces Local Connections. Local Connections create an easier mechanism to communication between multiple Silverlight instances, even in separate browser instances. In this video, Todd Miranda demonstrates how to use local connections to communicate between Silverlight 3 instances.
